Bakkafrost's Scottish Salmon Nightmare Gets Worse with 10,000 Tonne Black Hole! @Folketrygdfond @ScotlandSalmon @TavishScott

The £5 million investment of public money in the deadly Applecross facility @marinescotland & @HIEScotland is dead in the water! https://t.co/xWpvFgUlLT pic.twitter.com/ah1ZkiL2iw
Investors in beleaguered Bakkafrost Scotland (formerly called The Scottish Salmon Company) must be choking on their 'responsibly sourced' RSPCA Assured Scottish salmon as news of further losses rack up. Fish Farming Expert reported (8 November 2022):
Bakkafrost's latest financial nightmare during Q3 2022 can be downloaded online here
Bakkafrost's Q3 2022 presentation showcases their Applecross Hatchery (formerly known as Russel Burn) - which received £5 million in public funding in December 2021 - as a way out of their financial black hole:
However, mortality data published by the Scottish Government earlier this month (1 November 2022) reveals that the Applecross Hatchery/Smolt Unit is part of Bakkafrost's problems not the panacea. In fact, The Scottish Salmon Company (renamed Bakkafrost Scotland in June 2022 but still called The Scottish Salmon Company in the Scottish Government mortality database) has reported 21 'Mortality Event Reports' since July 2017 totalling 2.65 million morts (2,652,412 to be precise). Yet 12 of those 'Mortality Event Reports' - accounting for 2.45 million morts (2,449,227 to be precise) - were reported this year. In other words, mortality problems at Applecross are escalating at an alarming rate:
If you analyse the mortality data published by the Scottish Government earlier this month (1 November 2022) by year, it becomes clear that Bakkafrost's mortality mountain is rising higher than Ben Nevis with 4.65 million morts already reported in 2022 (data up to early October) compared to 1.23 million morts reported in 2019 and over 15 million morts reported by Bakkafrost/The Scottish Salmon Company since May 2015:
Nightmare Before Xmas - Bakkafrost's mortalities in Scotland are rising like a scene from the Walking Dead!

How can a rise from 1.23 million dead salmon in 2019 to 4.65 million dead salmon in 2022 be "sustainable"? @Folketrygdfond @NFdep @ScotlandSalmon https://t.co/xWpvFgUlLT pic.twitter.com/I76Dr0Xl3X
In other words, it's shaping up for one mort per pound invested in Bakkafrost Scotland/The Scottish Salmon Company by Highlands & Islands Enterprise and Marine Scotland (who invested £5 million of public money in December 2021)!
Here's the highest 'Mortality Event Reports' from Bakkafrost Scotland/The Scottish Salmon Company since 2015 - headed by Applecross Hatchery/Smolt Unit:
Fish Farmer reported (8 November 2022):
Salmon Business reported (8 November 2022):
Bakkafrost's mass mortalities are only exceeded by the PR bullshit which saw the company greenwashed as 'sustainable' at the Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards earlier this month:
As well as winning award after award, Bakkafrost tops Scottish Salmon's latest 'League of Death' (as sponsored by RSPCA Assured and the ASC and sourced from data published by the Scottish Government on 1 November 2022):
