New data published online by the Scottish Government on 6 October 2022 shows escalating mortality problems on salmon farms across Scotland:

Looking at the 'Mortality Event Reports' since 1 July 2022, salmon farms across Scotland are reporting alarming mortality problems.   A staggering 284,178 morts have been reported in six 'Mortality Event Reports' at The Scottish Salmon Company's salmon farms at Druimyeon Bay and East Tarbert Bay off the Isle of Gigha (The Scottish Salmon Company changed their name to Bakkafrost Scotland in June):

The mass mortalities off the Isle of Gigha echo the horror of last year when shocking video footage captured by Inside Scottish Salmon Feedlots was featured on STV News:

 

 

 



 

The Scottish Government mortality data - collected via 'Mortality Event Reports' submitted by salmon farming companies - shows 116,764 morts due to virus disease, bacterial disease and Heart & Skeletal Muscle Inflammation at an RSPCA Assured salmon farm operated by Norskott Havbruk (Scottish Sea Farms) in Loch Creran via in nine 'Mortality Event Reports' since 1 July 2022:

BBC Countryfile reported on the disease-ridden RSPCA Assured salmon farm in Loch Creran - a site supplying Marks & Spencer - in December 2020:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Other salmon farms reporting alarming levels of mortalities since 1 July 2022 include RSPCA Assured Loch Duart in Loch Laxford (a Special Area of Conservation) where 120,875 morts have been reported via six 'Mortality Event Reports':

Other hot spots for mass mortalities since 1 July 2022 include Scotasay (The Scottish Salmon Company/Bakkafrost) with 145,599 morts via 10 'Mortality Event Reports'; RSPCA Assured Ardmair and Ardessie (Wester Ross/Mowi) with 66,040 morts via 13 'Mortality Event Reports'; ASC-certified Stulaigh (Mowi) with 71,521 morts via three 'Mortality Event Reports'; Reibinish (The Scottish Salmon Company/Bakkafrost) with 97,149 morts via 9 'Mortality Event Reports'; ASC-certified Groatay with 51,397 morts via four 'Mortality Event Reports' and RSPCA Assured Loch Carnan (Loch Duart) with 66,658 morts via five 'Mortality Event Reports':
