Last year, the Isle of Gigha - meaning 'God's Island' in Old Norse - was awash with disease-ridden farmed salmon as mass mortalities at RSPCA Assured salmon farms in East Tarbert Bay and Druimyeon Bay led to a welfare nightmare which featured on STV News in October 2021:
Thousands of rotting salmon ‘stink out’ village after mass death at farm.https://t.co/hOoOmXr0n7
— STV News (@STVNews) October 20, 2021
A year later and the nightmare is recurring with 270,509 dead fish reported in July/August 2022 (a staggering 480,170 were reported in an 11 week period in 2021). Here's 'Case Information' published earlier this week (25 October 2022) by the Scottish Government's Fish Health Inspectorate relating to an inspection of East Tarbert Bay salmon farm off the Isle of Gigha operated by The Scottish Salmon Company (Bakkafrost Scotland) on 17 August 2022 - the inspection report cites "extremely high" lice infestation levels, the use of SLICE (Emamectin benzoate), PRV (Piscine Reovirus) and AGD (Amoebic Gill Disease):
Quiz: Which @rspcaassured salmon farm reported 750,000+ dead fish over a twelve month period (between September 2021 & August 2022)? @ScotlandSalmon https://t.co/2sBrJXdrlL @marinescotland @scotgov @APHAgovuk @RSPCA_official @RSPCAChris @ChrisGPackham @TavishScott @coopuk @scotgp pic.twitter.com/3jCaTtOAFj

The Scottish Government Fish Health Inspectorate report (17 August 2022) detailed fish welfare problems at the East Tarbert Bay salmon farm operated by The Scottish Salmon Company (Bakkafrost) - including "evidence of physical damage", "lice damage" and "haemorrhaging":
The 'Fish Health Inspectorate Visit Report' dated 29 August 2022 detailed a host of diseases, viruses, pathogens and bacteria including Vibrio, Aeromonas (Furunculosis), Amoebic Gill Disease (Neoparamoeba perurans), Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis Virus, Salmon Gill Poxvirus, Piscine Reovirus, ulcerative dermatitis and Paranucleospora theridion:
Tavish Scott @ScotlandSalmon does not recognise the mortality & disease problems on salmon farms across Scotland so here's 'Case Information' published this week for East Tarbert Bay salmon farm off the Isle of Gigha https://t.co/2sBrJXv2dj @scotgov @marinescotland @TavishScott https://t.co/JLhCDIBS3N pic.twitter.com/7z3vPrpoKG

$camon $cotland reported last month (26 September 2022):
All hail Bakkafrost Scotland (formerly The Scottish Salmon Company) - Scottish salmon's King of Death! https://t.co/Ju6L8xNZjw

How can 82.1% mortality (that's 4 in every 5 fish dying a cruel death) be branded "responsibly sourced"? @rspcaassured @ScotlandSalmon @Folketrygdfond pic.twitter.com/zc4OuDlw2x
Salmon Scotland's monthly mortality reports detail growing problems at Bakkafrost - with 11.7% mortality reported at East Tarbert Bay in August 2022 and 10.2% mortality in July 2022:
Data published online by the Scottish Government on 6 October 2022 shows escalating mortality problems on salmon farms across Scotland - with East Tarbert Bay salmon farm featuring prominently:
Here's the largest mortalities reported since 1 July 2022 (data up to 12 September 2022):

As burgeoning mass mortalities, deadly viruses, parasites & infectious diseases continue to plague Bakkafrost Scotland! @Folketrygdfond @ScotlandSalmon @TavishScott pic.twitter.com/5qPBVqxgD5
Despite rising disease and mortality problems on salmon farms, Tavish Scott (chief executive of Salmon Scotland) refuses to acknowledge the issue.
MILLIONS of farmed salmon are dying from lice infestations, chlamydia, heart disease, anaemia etc.

The CEO of the Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation @SSPOsays, Mr @TavishScott says it's a
"Pack of lies".
Make up you own mind who's the LIAR here. pic.twitter.com/C0T1aId4pn
Scottish salmon "die from lice infestatations, Chlamydia, heart disease, anaemia" @seaspiracy "Is that true?" @BBCScotNine "No, it's absolutely not true," replied @tavishscott "It's one of the pack of lies that these extreme activists produce all the time" https://t.co/L0V3L4ubNu pic.twitter.com/P7cBaRB6Yg

"I don't recognise your figure (26% mortality)" says @tavishscott to @joe_crowley @BBCCountryfile https://t.co/orFCNlIgG7
— Don Staniford (@TheGAAIA) December 7, 2020
Even Mr Magoo would recognise the fact that over a quarter of all Scottish salmon are dying in just the sea-phase of production! @marinescotland @SSPOsays pic.twitter.com/OwDboVoqgA
When @TavishScott appeared on @BBCScotNine last year he shamelessly denied millions of farmed salmon were dying from lice infestations & diseases @ScotlandSalmon
— Don Staniford (@TheGAAIA) October 28, 2022
Since then 20 million+ have died on disease-ridden @rspcaassured salmon farms in Scotland! https://t.co/CM9bTCxmdI https://t.co/Ua4oDuFzl7 pic.twitter.com/SFDA55zCxq
