The death of Clive Henry in February 2020 is not the first time Mowi (renamed from Marine Harvest in 2019 due to "negative consumer perception") has been criticised following a fatality at one of its salmon farms.  BBC News reported in 2007:

"Today marks the second anniversary of the death of Clive Hendry.

Clive died when he was crushed as he was transferring from the feed barge at the Ardintoul Fish Farm where he worked onto one of the company’s work boats, the Beinn Na Caillich.

 

The report into this incident by the MAIB in May last year was scathing of his employer, Mowi Scotland.

Amongst other serious criticisms, it concluded there had been an absence of any thorough safety management systems and no written procedure for transfer of personnel by boat, the most basic of health and safety failures that led to Clive’s death. This incident was prevetable, and should have been prevented.

 

Clive loved his work and he loved his outdoor life, he was devoted to Catriona and both were robbed of everything they had worked so hard for when the incident claimed his life.

 

Two year’s on from his death, his partner Catriona has still to hear if charges will be brought, a further example of the unnecessary delay, anguish and heartache bereaved families face following the death of a loved one caused by work.

 

Scottish Hazards and Families Against Corporate Killing will continue to support Catriona in the coming months and please remember Clive at ten past three this afternoon, the time the incident occurrred on the 18th February 2020 and spare a thought for his partner, Catriona as she continues in her fight for justice for Clive."
