Halloween horror is an every day occurrence on the world's disease ridden salmon farms as the mountain of mortalities pile up ever higher. Clayoquot Action in British Columbia, Canada, posted on Facebook (7 October 2021):
On the other side of North America in Maine, Protect Maine's Fishing Heritage Foundation published just last month (21 September 2021) a photo of the disposal of salmon from Cooke Aquaculture's Black Island salmon farm (video footage is hopefully being posted soon).
Video footage of a mass mortality incident - and shocking evidence of lice infestation inside salmon cages at West Strome in Loch Carron at The Scottish Salmon Company - was also published last month.
Video footage of the mort disposal operation @salmon_scottish "The dead boat – absolutely packed to the gunnels with death: at least thirty tonnes of dead salmon on there today”.

The dumping of diseased farmed salmon in the Outer Hebrides was exposed by the BBC One Show in 2018:
Netflix's global hit 'Seaspiracy' - which has been watched by millions all over the world features shocking video footage of Mowi's disease-ridden fish at their RSPCA Assured and ASC-certified salmon farm at Gorsten in Loch Linnhe.

The Sunday Mail reported in June 2018:
In November 2019, Sea Shepherd published damning video footage of a mass farmed salmon die-off in Clayoquot Sound.
In September 2020, The Ferret reported:
Scottish Salmon Watch also filmed mass mortalities at RSPCA Assured Kames Fish Farming in September 2020:
And again at RSPCA Assured Kames Fish Farming in September 2021:
In 2016, video footage of diseased salmon in bins was published in British Columbia, Canada:
The Barents Observer reported in 2016:
Video footage of dead farmed salmon piled up at the bottom of cages in Scotland was also broadcast by BBC Panorama in May 2019.
Video footage of dead salmon at Mowi's Poll Na Gille salmon farm was posted by David Ainsley in 2017:
Further video footage of morts being disposed of at Mowi's 'Bay of the Dead Heads' salmon farm near Craobh Haven were posted in September 2019:
David Ainsley dived under Mowi's salmon farm at Bagh Dail Nan Ceann (in Gaelic it translates as 'Bay of the Dead Heads'):
He videoed dead and dying salmon at the bottom of the cages.
Drone footage shot in May 2019 at Mowi's ASC-certified and RSPCA Assured salmon farm show dead fish floating on the surface following a 'Thermolicer' treatment.
Mass mortalities are piling up at Mowi and other salmon farming companies all over the world. In 2019, CBC News reported on a mass farmed salmon die-off at Mowi in Newfoundland:
"CBC News requested a site tour from Northern Harvest Sea Farms, a subsidiary of MOWI, but that request was denied," reported CBC News (2 October 2019).
"These are obviously bad things for our reputation" admits Mowi's communications manager Eivind Nævdal-Bolstad https://t.co/X74K9wykpO @MowiScotlandLtd @MowiCanadaWest At this rate Mowi will be forced to change their name again?! #Mowi @Salmon_Business @IntraFishNorge pic.twitter.com/1GVn1Yab1C

Back in 2003, Ireland's RTE broadcast a damning documentary on salmon farming featuring video footage of lice-infested salmon inside a salmon farm, mass mortalities under a salmon farm and illegal dumping of diseased fish:
Back in 2014, The Common Sense Canadian reported:
In July and September 2020, Scottish Salmon Watch visited Grieg Seafood's disease-ridden salmon farming operation on the Isle of Skye:
Mowi's nearby Loch Greshornish salmon farm - certified as welfare-friendly by the R$PCA - was piled high with diseased farmed salmon when I visited in July 2020.
Mort bins full of dead farmed Steelhead trout were piled up at nearby Loch Poolteil too in September 2020:

Over in Wester Ross, when I visited Mowi's Torridon salmon farm I was close to vomiting as I climbed up another skip full of diseased salmon - no wonder Mowi's lawyers stepped up their legal threats to sue me:

New Data: It's official - Scottish salmon is the worst ever! https://t.co/8w3aNU5XSp @ScottishEPA

It's official - Scottish salmon is the worst ever! Official data - published by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency via 'Scotland's Aquaculture' which is sourced from monthly returns submitted by salmon farming companies - reveals that mortalities on salmon farms during 2020 exceeded a staggering 27,000 tonnes (an estimated 20 million dead salmon). That's more than double the 10,000 tonnes of morts reported in 2013; almost four times more than the 7,000 tonnes reported in 2010 and the worst on record (2019 and 2017 were both just over 25,000 tonnes)!
Here's the worst monthly mortalities (by weight) reported on salmon farms during 2020 - headed by the Faroese/Norwegian owned 'Scottish' Salmon Company followed by Isle of Skye Salmon (owned by Norway's Grieg Seafood) and Norwegian-owned giants Mowi and Scottish Sea Farms.
Mowi (who changed their name from Marine Harvest in 2019 due to "negative consumer perception") head the list of mortalities by company since 2013. These six companies - all foreign owned/controlled - account for 99% of 'Scottish' salmon farming production.
The Salmafia Exposed: the big six 'Scottish' salmon companies - all foreign owned - are responsible for 150,000+ tonnes of dead salmon since 2013 acccording to official data @ScottishEPA https://t.co/8w3aNU5XSp @MowiScotlandLtd @salmon_scottish @GriegShetland @SSPOsays #Salmafia pic.twitter.com/N9ZgC3LxMW

To put the scale of Scottish salmon's mort mountain into perspective, over a quarter (26%) of all farmed salmon in the sea phase of production are dying before they reach harvest size. BBC Countryfile reported in December 2020:
26% mortality rate on Scottish salmon farms (in just the sea phase of production) - that means one in four RSPCA certified salmon are dying a horrible death! @rspcaassured @SSPOsays @marinescotland https://t.co/G4dXeILsTk @BBCCountryfile @joe_crowley @SalmonTroutCons @scotgp pic.twitter.com/4Nm8CV3fLA

In September 2021, the Scottish Government published new data on mortalities via the 'Scottish Fish Farm Production Survey 2020' detailing how the mortality rate has ranged between 15-28% over the last few decades on salmon farms in Scotland (the latest data reports survival as 75.9% i.e. 24.1% mortality):
From hatch to catch (i.e. from imported ova from Iceland, Norway and Ireland - through the farming process in hatcheries and freshwater lochs - to 'Scottish' farmed salmon harvested in sea cages) around half of all farmed salmon are dying!
Alexa, how many salmon die each year on Scottish salmon farms? 42 million* https://t.co/jRQzhheju6
— Don Staniford (@TheGAAIA) November 11, 2020
Sadly we don't know for sure as the answer is deemed "commercially damaging" by @sspo!
Will @ScottishEPA & @marinescotland force disclosure? @salmon_scottish @rspcaassured pic.twitter.com/fua9nkM6g3
Exactly how many farmed salmon die each year on salmon farms in Scotland is currently not known. Sadly, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency stopped reporting mortality numbers back in 2013 following lobbying by the salmon farming industry who claimed that publication would be "commercially damaging".

In July 2020, The Ferret reported:
A report - "Investing in Troubled Waters" - published by the Changing Markets Foundation in July 2021 named and shamed Mowi for their staggeringly high mort mountain:
Reality check: High fish mortalities: Over the last decade, Mowi had the highest amount of fish mortalities out of the top salmon producers. Scottish Salmon Watch has been tracking the disposal of dead farmed salmon for years - since the BBC One Show broadcast 'The Dead Salmon Run' in December 2017:
In September 2018, I climbed up a skip full of diseased farmed salmon at The Scottish Salmon Company's Quarry Point salmon farm in Loch Fyne:
In September 2019, video footage of diseased salmon being transported by Gogar spilled on the A86 road was published on Facebook:

In April 2020, photos of Mowi's dead salmon from the appropriately named Muck salmon farm were published:
In November 2018, The Sunday Mail published video footage of the "hell" that is RSPCA Assured Mowi:
In December 2018, investigative reporters from Latvian TV climed up a skip full of diseased salmon at Mowi's farm at Gorsten:
The mass mortalities are piled so high in disease-ridden salmon farms across Scotland that video footage of dead fish is not hard to come by!
