"A big campaign to invite the public to Scotland's salmon farms" was sadly abandoned by the Scottish salmon farming lobby last year but thanks to the power of video footage the public doesn't need to feel too disappointed.

Earlier this week (22 March 2021), Scottish Salmon Watch criticised a Marine Scotland Science study (which reported that salmon farm welfare had not been compromised by Covid-19) for failing to tell readers that 'Passive Surveillance Inspections' of salmon farms (i.e. no physical on-site inspections) took place between late March and late August 2020.

In 2017, Swedish film-maker Mikael Frödin swam out to a Grieg owned salmon farm in Altafjord armed with a Go Pro on an extendable pole.
His shocking footage of lice damage and welfare abuse was broadcast in 2018 on Swedish TV and on Norwegian TV.
"They're all sick, look at them," said Frödin as he filmed inside the cage:
