"We care passionately for the health and welfare of our fish," claimed Mowi Scotland in The Ferret (24 October 2019) and reported later today in Fish Farmer magazine.
If these poor salmon farmed by Mowi in Scotland could talk then I'm sure they would call bullshit.

These Scottish salmon farmed by Mowi (and certified by RSPCA Assured) hardly paint a picture of good health and high welfare standards.

With so many skeletons in their closet it is not surprising that Mowi's Director of Communication & Business Development sought to block disclosure of more damning photos that "may create unnecessary confusion or fear about consuming healthy Scottish seafood".

More gruesome photos of welfare abuse and disease problems at Mowi's farm off the Isle of Rum were published online by the Scottish Government on 10 September 2019:
Do these lice-infested, "blind", "physically damaged" and "anorexic" salmon look the picture of health as claimed by Mowi's slick marketing?
Surely Scottish Ministers should think twice before gorging themselves on Mowi's disease-ridden salmon?

Mowi is all too aware of the risks of diseases writing in their Integrated Annual Report 2018 (published on 27 March 2019) that "continued disease problems may also attract negative media attention and public concerns" .
For more data on diseases and mortalities please read a report published by Scottish Salmon Watch in March 2019 including Fish Health Inspectorate 'Case Information' on Marine Harvest salmon farms during 2018:
In May 2019, Mowi Scotland's Health Manager predicted "it may be a painful September and October for the salmon industry in Scotland" for Amoebic Gill Disease in particular.
Next week (31 October), Scottish Salmon Watch will be coordinating a protest outside Mowi's stinky and noisy feed factory on the Isle of Skye.
